The Ribbon Cutting for our new Little Free Library will be held at 11:30 AM after the service on Sunday, March 16th! If you have books to donate, please contact Taylor Smith at [email protected]. We are seeking books for children and adults that promote justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

The Little Free Library project is a partnership with the CT Undoing Racism community group in Stamford. CT Undoing Racism has built and donated the library and a bench, which we will install on our front lawn this week.

The aim of this project is to promote literacy, community connection, and equity through the establishment of a Little Free Library bookstand with books for children and adults that promote justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. These books introduce readers to diverse voices, histories, and experiences. They help foster empathy by allowing people to see the world through different lenses.

The UUC lawn with our vibrant downtown location is a prime location for this initiative. A Little Free Library offers visitors the opportunity to exchange books, encourage reading for all ages, and foster a stronger sense of community. It aligns with the values of accessibility and inclusivity, making books and educational resources available to everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status.

CTUR is committed to managing the installation, stocking, and maintenance of the library to ensure its long-term success with the collaboration of others, such as UUC and the Ferguson Library.
