In the 1970’s, at a time when the congregation had shrunk and everyone was serving on several committees trying to keep the church afloat, two members of the congregation kept promising to have lunch and — never getting around to it. But both knew the old Cole Porter song, “Here’s to the Ladies Who Lunch” often sung by Elaine Stritch, and it became a standing joke.

Thirty-five years later, the two finally did find the time to have lunch together and decided that this would be a good ministry for our congregation. Every month, on a Saturday, all the “ladies” of the congregation are invited to a restaurant to share lunch and each other’s company. There is no agenda; it’s purely a social occasion, and it is one of the many ways we strengthen the bonds that unite us.  Check our Calendar for the next luncheon, usually held on the 3rd or 4th Saturday of the month.
