Message from the Minister

Dear Ones,

Beginning this Sunday, January 2nd and until further notice, our worship services will take place on Zoom only at 10AM. Sadly, the rapid surge in Covid-19 cases in our area has made this move to online services necessary. Fairfield County is in the dark red- or Severe/Extreme- zone for Covid risk level, and hospitalizations have increased in the Northeast and throughout the country. Health officials have advised an avoidance of large gatherings in order to make this resurgence manageable. I am hopeful that we will be able to return to in-person services within a few weeks, as soon as this surge subsides. Please look for updates in the eBlast each week.

Although this is disappointing news, I believe this time of pause has gifts to offer. While I have enjoyed worshiping with everyone in person this Fall, I also love the personal connection that is possible via Zoom worship. Together we can make our worship services on Zoom truly interactive, relational, and spiritually uplifting. It is also a time to connect with other UU congregations. In addition, outdoors and small group gatherings are still possible. Plans for winter hiking, community service, and social gatherings on the front lawn are in the works- if you have an idea, please share it! Small groups of vaccinated individuals are still welcome to gather indoors as they feel comfortable. People meeting in person should wear well-fitted masks and maintain social distancing.

As we say goodbye to 2021, let’s hope for a better year to come.  And at the same time, no matter what the world offers or refuses, let us remember that the choice to create joy and share love is always in our hands.

With blessings for the New Year,

Reverend Terri
