Welcome to Religious Education at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Stamford!  If you are looking for a place to help your children grow spiritually, learn about Unitarian Universalist Principles and values, and be part of a beloved community of faith, you have found it!

We offer Religious Education (“R.E.”) for children and youth in preschool through 12th grade taught by our teams of UUC volunteers.  Some of our volunteers have children currently participating in R. E. and others do not.   Our 2021-2022 program theme is “BUUilding CommUUnity”. Visit the “Curriculum” page for descriptions of the individual curricula that the groups will be using.

The schedule is a little bit unique this year as we move toward a more typical year.

Prek -8th grade groups:

  • When worship takes place on Zoom only, RE groups will meet from 12:30-1:30 at UUC
  • When worship is in person (inside or outside), RE groups will meet during the Service, following the Time for All Ages, from about 10:15-11:15
  • Click here for a “Refrigerator Schedule

High School Youth Group:

  • Generally speaking, when the Sunday Service is on Zoom only, YOUTH GROUP (just UUC) will meet at UUC beginning at 12:30.
  • When the Sunday Service is in person, either inside or outside, YOUTH GROUP (just UUC) will meet during the Service, beginning at 10:00.
  • YOUTH GROUP TRIP PREP WILL MEET AT 1:00 at either UUC or UUFNW Mt. Kisco

“SUUnday FUUnday”:  all RE ages, 1 Sunday/month (community-building fun and games) with a simultaneous Make-up Class in the RE Zoom Room (to accommodate those children/youth who are not comfortable meeting in person or who have been quarantined, etc.)

Finally, these are the Covid-19 precautions that are being put in place in an effort to provide a safer space for those children and youth who feel comfortable attending in-person RE:

  • RE volunteers working directly with children/youth will provide proof of their Covid vaccination prior to beginning
  • Fans will be running in rooms when groups are meeting (two in the downstairs RE classroom, one each in the upstairs RE classroom and Youth Room)
  • Outside spaces will be used whenever possible for RE
  • We will strive for 3′ between children/youth
  • Desk shields (convertible to floor shields) will be used when distancing isn’t possible
  • Enhanced cleaning and hygiene protocols will be in place (i.e., handwashing will be encouraged and tables, chairs, and equipment will be wiped with antibacterial wipes after use)
  • Masks will be required at all times (extras are available)
