Next year, our Religious Education ministry is planning to launch an Our Whole Lives (OWL) program for grades 7-9! OWL is a UU-written curriculum about lifespan sexuality that seeks to empower, build confidence, and enhance decision making. The UU Association describes OWL as:

“Honest, accurate information about sexuality changes lives. It dismantles stereotypes and assumptions, builds self-acceptance and self-esteem, fosters healthy relationships, improves decision making, and has the potential to save lives. For these reasons and more, we are proud to offer Our Whole Lives (OWL), a comprehensive, lifespan sexuality education curricula for use in both secular settings and faith communities.”

As we plan for next year, we would like to invite parents and interested volunteers to join us for an information session. We’ll share more about OWL’s curriculum and our plan for the next year, as well as volunteer training requirements for those interested. We are hoping that this will not just be for UUC students, but to students of other Open and Affirming congregations in Stamford and the community in general! We need many hands to make this work – both in terms of participants and in terms of volunteers – so please join us to consider how you can support this important ministry!
